Terms of Use

These terms apply to the “Float Mute” application for macOS and this website. By installing or using them you agree to these terms.

What the application does

The application switches the mute state of your Mac's microphone and shows the state in a floating widget and in the menu bar. It does not record, store or send audio. It keeps its settings on your Mac and has no servers, accounts or network connections of its own.

Licence

The application is free. Tikhon Ustinov grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use it, in binary form, on computers that you own or are entitled to use, for personal or internal business purposes. You may not reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble it except where the law allows this despite the restriction; sell, rent, lease, sublicense or redistribute it; remove or change its copyright or licence notices; or use it to break the law or the rights of others.

Ownership

The application is not open source. Its source code, name, logo and design remain the property of Tikhon Ustinov. All rights that are not granted here are reserved.

Third-party components

The application includes third-party software under its own licence: the KeyboardShortcuts package (MIT). That licence applies to that component, not to the application as a whole.

Calls and microphone state

You are responsible for checking whether your microphone is muted before you speak. The application can fail to change the state, for example because of the device, a driver or another app. Tikhon Ustinov is not liable for a missed call or for a microphone that was left muted or live by mistake.

No warranty and limit of liability

The application is provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. To the extent allowed by law, Tikhon Ustinov is not liable for lost data, lost time, lost profit or any indirect or other damage caused by using the application. Total liability is limited to the amount you paid for the application, which is nothing. Nothing here limits liability that the law does not allow to be limited.

Mac App Store

If you got the application from the Mac App Store, Apple's Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies to that copy. If it conflicts with these terms, the Apple agreement prevails for that copy. Apple is not responsible for support or warranty of the application.

Changes, ending and contact

We may change these terms; the current version is always on this page. The licence ends automatically if you breach these terms, and then you must stop using the application and delete your copies. Questions about these terms: zhimbura@gmail.com. If a translation differs from the English text, the English text prevails.
